FloatPad is a floating notepad for Chrome. Keep the text you use every day in one place, find it in a second, and drop it into any text box on any site.
Opens with Alt+X on any page · Works offline · Your notes stay on your computer
FloatPad sits on top of the page you're working in. No new tabs, no copying from a doc somewhere else.
Press Alt+X or click the toolbar icon and FloatPad opens on top of whatever you're doing: ChatGPT, Gmail, a support ticket, a form. Press it again and it's gone.
[2]Quick summaryInsert[1]Rewrite clearlyInsertPress minimise and FloatPad shrinks into a small floating button that sits in the corner of your screen. Drag it anywhere it is out of your way, and click it to open the full pad again.
You don't even need to open the pad. Hover over the floating button and your most recent prompts slide out beside it. Click one, or press the insert arrow, and it goes straight into the text box you're typing in.
Click + to save any prompt, reply, note or template. Start typing in the search box and FloatPad shows matching notes as you type. Star the ones you use most.
[1]Rewrite clearly ★Insert[4]Rewrite as emailInsertGive each note a category, like Writing, Email or Work. Tap the filter button next to search to see one category at a time, or only your starred favourites.
Click into any text box, then press Insert on a note. The full text lands exactly where your cursor is. It works in chat boxes, emails, forms and rich editors.
[2]Quick summaryInsert ↓Every note gets a number, shown next to its title. In any text box, type the number inside square brackets, like [2]. As soon as you close the bracket, FloatPad replaces it with the full note. No need to open the pad at all.
Click the Select Text icon at the top of the pad, then drag a box over any part of a page. FloatPad copies the text inside it straight into a new note, ready to edit and save.

Use the same Select Text icon and drag over an image, screenshot, video frame or embedded post and FloatPad reads the words in it. The text reader is built into the extension and runs on your computer, so your images are never uploaded.
Delete something by mistake? Deleted notes stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, and FloatPad also keeps automatic recovery snapshots on your computer. You can make a full backup file at any time, restore it on another computer, or export your prompts.

FloatPad is built to keep your text on your device. This policy explains what the extension does and doesn't do with your information.
Everything you save in FloatPad is stored in your browser's local storage on your own computer. We don't run servers that receive it, and we can't see it.
When you read text from an image, FloatPad takes a screenshot of the visible tab, crops it to the area you selected and reads it with a text reader bundled inside the extension. This happens entirely on your computer. The screenshot is kept in memory only for that one request and deleted straight after (within 30 seconds). It is never saved or uploaded.
FloatPad asks to run on all websites so the pad can open and insert text in any text box you choose. It only reads a page when you use it: to insert text, to check for a number code you typed, or to grab text from an area you selected. It doesn't track your browsing or collect page content.
If you buy Pro, payment is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. They receive your email address and payment details to process the purchase. FloatPad only checks with ExtensionPay whether your account has paid. We never see your card number. See the Stripe privacy policy and ExtensionPay privacy policy.
